Xochico started out in February 2001 with just five t-shirts designs, not really knowing what we were doing but with a pretty good idea of where we were headed.

We still are not the biggest or the best but every now and then we come up with something that really hits what this mad, hybrid California culture is all about.

We now manufacture & distribute a wide range of products to quality retailers from California to New York and as far away as Japan and Spain. And from our website, we've shipped to customers on every continent in the world except Africa. (Come on, Africa, what's up?) And no, we're not counting Antarticta because no one does. (Sorry Antarticans.)

Xochico gets referenced in leading style guides and "what's hot" magazine reviews as a trendsetter in the bi-cultural market. We know this because people have told us. We're too busy working on new designs to notice, but thanks! It's cool to be recognized as an innovative brand, instead of some 'supertourist' company claiming the latest trends.

Pronounced "Zo-chee-ko", Xochico* itself is a hybrid word, taking the Nahuatl root "Xochi" ("flower") and "co" (for company) to form "Xochico". Yeah, we know it's hard to pronounce, but it's too late to change now: we just re-registered our domain for the next ten years, and they don't give refunds.

So bottom line is that we like what we do and we try to have as much fun as we can while we're at it. And we're glad that a growing number of people get what we're about and enjoy what we bring as much as we do.

*Subsequently, we learned there is an actual place in Mexico called, "Xochico" but it had nothing to do with the naming of the company. And the "x" really does have a weird "z" sound. It's a remnant from colonial Spanish pronunciation. Believe us, we checked. It's a cool story.
